Light Eyes

Between action and dream, the little girl advances slowly. Liyana is the name of the princess in the story that is told at night. In this dreamlike territory, let us fly and let ourselves be carried away in the memory of a personal memory. From hide and seek in play with nature, the butterfly becomes the fairy Gisèle. The forest opens its arms to us, the simplest things are often the most delicious. Suddenly, a whisper invites us into the castle that stands before us. The forbidden and the unknown seduces us and set off on an adventure. We discover that this beautiful empty cage is filled with traces of the past.

In the middle of the layers and under layers of memories, Liyana creates her universe. Madame Fox comes to keep her company. His unicorn visits him. The magic powder enchants places where a harsh and captivating melody emerges. Time passes and the flowers grow impatient. The discomfort grows, the contours are redrawn and enclose us. Between divinity and appeasement, Liyana searches and finds the story she wants to tell, let yourself be carried away in your dreams … the story of the evening is invented word by word.

Mélanie Dornier, French photographer, tells human stories. She immerses herself in the life of her subjects, by revealing their identity, she questions societal themes while working on the traces of their history. The concept of value is dear to him and the device allows him to express himself and convey causes that are dear to him.

Self-taught as an artist, in 2004, she graduated in the social sector and when in 2007, she decided to live in Asia, her passion and her expertise come together. She explores documentary photography for more than 8 years. Quickly recognized by her peers, in 2011, she was one of the emerging photographer of the photography fair.

In India and China, countries in which she resides, she will tackle the question of women and gender, as well as the notion of territory. Her photographic work on Indian women will be rewarded in the United States with the Bettye Lane Feminist Award from Duke University in 2017 and published in her first monograph by Editions Corridor Elephant in 2018.

In early 2017, by choice she returned to live in France; she wants to re-understand her culture. It will push its identity approach towards societal subjects but will also refocus on an intimate environment. By closing in on itself, it soars in childhood dreams, playing with their representation but also incorporating a reflection on society. She likes to bring a touch of delicacy and poetry to the subjects they deal with.
