Médiathèque André Malraux : Association Helio : NEKO Project

Preview

The Helio association presents a selection of 55 photographs on the theme of cats, by Japanese artists who participated in the “Neko project” initiated by Sophie Cavaliero.

Natsume Sôseki’s famous novel, “I am a cat”, shows us the importance and the necessity of sometimes having a feline point of view on our world. Cats have always played an important role in Japanese culture, from Maneki-neko to Hello Kitty; from the book The Cat, Shozo and the Two Women written by Junichiro Tanizaki to Studio Ghibli Cats; from Chiro, the dying cat of photographer Nobuyoshi Araki to Sasuke, the lost and found cat of fellow photographer Masahisa Fukase.
