Masked confidences
The widespread use of masks during the COVID 19 pandemic disrupted our mode of communication and from this constraint was born a gallery of portraits featuring masked characters, a pretext for multiple stories.
Contrary to the expression “advance masked”, my characters entrust us with their secrets and their dreams.
Provoking the spectator’s imagination so that it creates its own story is, for me, more important and more stimulating than understanding what I want to tell.
I slipped into these images my interest in fantastic cinema as well as anachronisms and temporal telescoping.
For me, it was a celebration of the imagination, using an ordinary object as a starting point for an “artistic” exploration.
The image showman that I am hopes to have produced an aesthetically pleasing and intellectually stimulating series.
