The enchanted fortress
“The Enchanted Fortress” is a series of photographs taken in April 2022 in Calpe, Spain.
In my approach as an artist, I develop fashion productions, often offbeat and imbued with humor.
The location chosen for my productions is essential because it is often the discovery of a place that will inspire me to imagine a scene and generate an image.
In the series presented here “The Enchanted Fortress” I took as a setting the work of the architect Ricardo Bofill: La Muralla Roja. Its pastel shades and labyrinthine structure strongly inspired me to write scenarios and develop aesthetic and graphic settings.
I am inspired by common feelings around solitude: melancholy, emptiness, waiting, absence, disillusionment, and gentle madness, to depict female characters in poetic and dreamlike universes, to transcend both their cracks and their hopes. Here in this series, I took as a model a Spanish choreographer and dancer: Ana Cembrero Coca.
This series is made up of 14 images. Its title refers on the one hand to the base of the construction of the Muralla, built like a fortress, and the adjective enchanted refers to tales and opens the imagination. The inflatable pink flamingo waits at the window for its heroine to come and “save” it. A wink and humor come together for this peppy, colorful and fun series.
The artistic intention of my photographic stagings is to create fictions borrowed from reality, in poetic and dreamlike universes where the viewer can imagine their own story.
