Martin & Associés, Lawyers and Photography Enthusiasts

Preview

It is always wonderful to meet photography enthusiasts. The one we are introducing you to today is Etienne Baillet. He is a member of the Martin & Associés law firm. For a few years, Etienne Baillet has promoted and supported photography through exhibitions in the law firm offices. Here we are presenting some images that have already been exhibited. In a second article, you will learn about Kourtney Roy’s photos for the current exhibition. Since it is not open to the public, you are the only ones to see them.

Martin & Associés is a law firm founded in 1948 that originally built its reputation in the field of real estate law, more specifically construction law. Today, it is a wonderful team of around twenty lawyers sensitive to the evolutions of the world, driven by four associates with complimentary personalities and experiences. Taking advantage of this new generation, Martin & Associés has, for the past ten years, expanded its areas of practice, becoming an independent firm in private and public business law. For the past few years, they have embarked on an initiative to support photography.

“It seemed very natural to me to involve developments of our long-term structure in a partnership with the art world,” explains Etienne Baillet. “We often forget that being lawyer involves, beyond a demanding, methodical approach, a real creativity. It happened that the group of lawyers were sensitive and open to photography. Now they’re enjoying fresh, dynamic, almost inescapable photos from the world of contemporary art. There are so many characteristics illustrating qualities that are just as vital that Martin & Associés offers to the different economic players that it assists. So, in our efforts, there is an intention to share a common view on the world that surrounds us, but also to promote an understanding of creative production. The adventure began thanks to Jean-Christophe Ballot on themes dear to him, like sculpture and natural landscapes. Tadzio Pacquement involved our offices with an original installation on the city and architecture. Laurent Champoussin, as for himself, offered a great poetic journey through his photographs. Finally, Cyril Abad was the last to exhibit a photojournalism story, being within the realm of contemporary street photography, around BREXIT. A biting work halfway between Ken Loach and Martin Parr.”
