Pictures made near water
I am drawn more to landscape near water than to water itself. Most viewers respond in predictable ways to pictures of oceans or rivers as scenery (a word with more dismissive connotations, I think, in English than in French), but I am not interested in scenery. I am interested in making traditional representational photographs as fully self-contained compositions, drawing as much inspiration from painters I admire as from photographers.
