To present Marin Hock in January 2012 is not simple. With a degree from the “75” Arts School of Brussels, the current 23 year old winner of the SFR Prize had a remarkable year in 2011. Exhibited at Paris Photo, at the Rencontres d’Arles, and Lille 3000, he is represented by the Hans Lucas Studio since November.
The pictures from the series “From one sadness to another” on display here were taken at the Devinière. It is an open psychotherapeutic institution near Charleroi in Belgium. Marin Hock tried to approach madness differently, playing with perspective, objects, and volumes. “At the Devinière, I met free men and women”.
