On November 25, 2020, at the initiative of Jérôme Giusti, attorney and President of the Droit d’Urgence association, I photographed women who openly testified. Geneviève, Sabine, Sophie, Gaelle came to talk about the moment when everything changed dramatically, the last straw that made them leave their violent partner; a gesture, a look, the reaction of a child …
But because not all of them can publicly testify to #ViolencesConjugales (#MaritalViolence), others pose for them, to spread their words. Elected and representing Paris and former president of Amnesty International France, Geneviève Garrigos is the first to participate in this photographic, collective and united action, she poses for Daniela. Marthe Nagels, cultural assistant at the Town Hall of the 20th arrondissement of Paris is the second, she poses for Jasmine, others will follow.
With the confinement first and now the curfew, intra-family violence is exploding, it is a scourge that we will only succeed in conquering through strong mobilization. This is what prompted Emergency Rights to create, 15 years ago, a specific and multidisciplinary reception for victims of violence at the Access Point to the Law of the 20th district, as well as the droitdirect.fr platform, inaugurated in October 2019.
