The Maison de la Photographie Robert Doisneau and the Lavoir Numérique present La roue des merveilles, an exhibition of photographs by Harold Feinstein.
Harold Feinstein (1931-2015) never had any ambition other than to become a photographer. This native of Coney Island (where the beaches and amusement parks frequented by all the New Yorkers are located) he developed a monumental body of work for nearly sixty years. There is no “pure” contemplation in these images, it is above all an ethical disposition, an aesthetic of the banal. This work ultimately composes a whole, a great musical novel in the midst of the upheavals of post-war American society with, as a backdrop, the conflict in Korea, the exacerbation of the racial problem and McCarthyism.
Exhibition produced by the Centre de la photographie de Mougins in collaboration with the Harold Feinstein Photography Trust.
With the support of the Amis du Centre de la photographie de Mougins.
