The Mondo Galeria, in Madrid, Spain, presents through May 1st, 2015 a group show: Yo. La peor de Todas (Nan Goldin paradigma).
Over the course of the 20th century, the portrait was redefined in search of individuality and identity—socially, culturally and in terms of gender. Surpassing the artistic tradition of portraiture, photography influences the image of the human being. In postmodern society, the spectacle of intimacy brought into art by photographers such as Nan Goldin or, in her way, Cindy Sherman, sparked a trend that would later emerge in popular culture as selfies, avatars and other mass exercises of self-representation. As a form of expression, the nude is a weapon for liberation that itself questions physical freedom in order to draw us into intimacy. The body as an extension of the mind places us in a unique space-time.
