Photographer MA Fengyun shot a series of her 90-year-old grandma who has lost her memory due to dementia. A combination of the elderly image and fashions, this collection launches a dialogue between time, aesthetics and love.
It is the stories behind the face that makes the feature special. The face possess such special quality and wisdom accelerated by time and her life long experiences engraved in the fine lines of her wrinkles . Such special quality is impossible to create with makeup or acting skill. For her eyes are no longer clear, we see stories and her simple peaceful fearless mind when facing this rapidly changing world. Just like the main character in the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a sixty-year-old elderly can not only be as adventurous as a twenty-year-old youngster, but more courageous and optimistic. Age leaves wrinkles on people’s faces, but not necessarily on the souls.
MA said her eyes brimmed with tears when photographing her grandma, and the process reminded her of her happy childhood with grandma in the countryside.
