Born in Cambodia in 1982, Lim Mengkong studied photography all by himself with only a few books and a lot of practicing. The autodidact became Assistant to the Artistic Director of Globe Magazine South-East Asia. Being a great press reader, he sharpens his vision and stimulates his inspiration every single day.
As a photographer, Lim Mengkong likes to explore portraits: “I like to make my subjects look attractive; i want to show their best side“. The serie Pre-wedding pictures a very popular Asian custom – more and more popular in Cambodia: Wedding Pictures, with an amusing background, sometimes classic, sometimes baroque.
According to Lim Mengkong, a successful wedding picture is taken by a passionate photographer of the genre. You need not only the knowledge of specific techniques and codes, but also a lot of patience (due to the climate), organization (natural settings, costumes) and psychology (couples need to look natural in front of the camera) . Finally, creativity and narrative talent of the photographer will make the difference. “I create a special tailor-made story for each couple: fiction and romance in a traditional or contemporary setting“.
