My aim with the series “Not My President” is to reflect the collective consciousness of the majority of our nation and to create a series that might have some degree of historical value. The images are numbered in the order they were created like stops along a road map as the collective ‘we’ grasp this momentous event in the history of our country. I am trying to capture visually what the majority of the world is feeling. This is a protest caused by a deeply felt sense of danger. This is not just an American issue it affects the world; the man at the helm of America and what he does affects the entire world. People across the world are watching and worried. Questions abound; will the United Nations Organizations be dismantled, will the Paris Climate Agreement be canceled, will the US contribution to the UN be cut, will foreign aid to developing countries be ended, will open commercial and political war on China be declared, what will happen to the progress the world’s governments have made in recent years moving toward a commitment to reduce global emissions, what about the world’s most powerful military, which will now be controlled by Mr. Trump, will there be a move toward greater conflict in the Middle East or Asia, will he land America and the world in a serious new conflict or a global depression, will climate change worsen? All in all a Trump world is a far darker place. The unpredictable policies of a Trump administration will leave America and cities across the globe feeling the ripple effects for years to come.
