All entries for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2015 must be made via the online Application Form until March 1, 2015. The “Leica Oskar Barnack Award” competition is open to professional photographers only. To take part, participants must send in a series of photographs taken in 2014 or long-term projects containing at least one photo from 2014. The winner receives a cash prize of 25,000 Euros and in addition a Leica M camera and a lens worth 10,000 Euros. The “Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award” competition is open to any (prospective) professional photographer aged 25 or under at the time of entering. The winner receives a cash prize of 10,000 Euros and in addition a Leica M camera and a lens.

An international jury* awards the Leica Oskar Barnack Award to professional photographers whose unerring powers of observation capture and express the relationship between man and the environment in the most graphic form in a sequence of a minimum of 10 up to a maximum of 12 images. Entry submissions must be a self-contained series of images in which the photographer perceives and documents the interaction between man and the environment with acute vision and contemporary visual style – creative, groundbreaking and unintrusive.
The renowned photographic competition, the Leica Oskar Barnack Award has been announced annually since the year 1979. Entries (professional photographers only) for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2015 will be accepted as online submissions between January 15th and March 1st. Entries for the Leica Oskar Barnack NEWCOMER Award are addressed to all (prospective) photographers aged 25 years and under.
The Jury is composed by : Karin Rehn-Kaufmann (Director of International Leica galleries), Michael Biedowicz (Photo Editor of ZEITmagazin), Christian Caujolle (Curator), Martin Kollar (photographer and winner of Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2014) and Brigitte Schaller (Art Director, Leica Fotografie International magazine).
Like last year, there will be a prize presented in a third category – the Leica Oskar Barnack Public Award. The winner of this category will be determined from a shortlist of candidates selected by the jury in an online vote organized in collaboration with www.i-shot-it.com, a platform for photographic competitions and will receive a cash prize of 2,500 Euros.
