In a Continuous Loop
“In a Continuous Loop” is a personal exploration of memory, fear, and identity, expressed through the lens of surrealism. This project began during the pandemic when I returned to my childhood home, a space filled with nostalgia, tension, and unresolved emotions. As I reconnected with my past, photography became my instinctive way of processing these feelings, evolving from a raw visual diary into a conceptual body of work.
Through self-staged photography and performance, I placed myself both literally and metaphorically within the frame, using objects from my past, mirrors, curtains, and everyday items as symbols of introspection, repression, and transformation. In using surrealism to represent domestic life, I sought to present a new, layered interpretation of familiar spaces, reimagining them as places of psychological complexity and emotional tension.
My work also reflects on the cultural and political context that shaped my upbringing, particularly the inherited silence and gendered constraints of a post-communist society.
By confronting these personal and generational fears, I have turned image-making into a form of healing and self-reclamation.
