The Collection Regard, based in Berlin, encompasses works from the beginnings of photography up until the 1990s. The Goethe-Institut’s exhibition Dokumente des Vergänglichen / Documenter l’éphémère [Documenting the Ephemeral] presents the artistic approach of photographers Margret Hoppe, Rainer König, Manfred Paul, and Ulrich Wüst, who all make every effort in their own way, thanks to photography, to document completely unique and temporary situations. Their work reflects, on one hand, the profound social changes of their time (like the fall of the Wall), and on the other hand, very subjective existential approaches, which try to seize the ephemeral character of human existence.
