Putting Photography in the Spotlight
In 1992, Reporters Without Borders began raising funds for its initiatives by publishing three annual collectable photo albums. Today, more than sixty publications have been released, featuring work by famous photographers like Paolo Pellegrin, Steve McCurry, Martin Parr, Izis, René Burri, William Klein, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Edouard Boubat, Helmut Newton, Dominique Issermann, Gilles Caron and Don McCullin.
Previously, to celebrate its 25th anniversary, Reporters Without Borders collaborated with a photojournalism agency. The album Magnum Photos, 101 photos pour la liberté de la presse revisited historic events of the last 70 years as captured by Magnum’s legendary photographers.
Agence VII: A Contemporary Vision
For the first album of 2014, the RSF has chosen the Agence VII to show its support for photojournalism. In this latest issue, readers will discover the work of these photographers in conflict zones, from Afghanistan and Russia to North Korea, with original texts by the French writer Philippe Labro, the American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
Today the Agence VII represents 20 photojournalists across the world: Jocelyn Bain Hogg, Marcus Bleasdale, the Estate of Alexandra Boulat, Stefano De Luigi, Jessica Dimmock, Ashley Gilbertson, Ron Haviv, Ed Kashi, Gary Knight, Antonin Kratochvil, Joachim Ladefoged, Davide Monteleone, Christopher Morris, Maciek Nabrdalik, Franco Pagetti, Stephanie Sinclair, John Stanmeyer, Anastasia Taylor-Lind, Tomas van Houtryve and Donald Weber.
