The new photo gallery Brucie Collections is struggling to place the Ukrainian capital Kiev on the map of world photography. Thus the choice of Bob Carlos Clarke, master of erotic provocation. The exhibition is also unsuitable for minors, even if no photograph has the nature to make anyone faint in any European capital.
As Bob Carlos Clarke said: “I want my photographs to bear the highest amount of sexual charge as possible, those touching the most animal instincts”. And even more than poses or lust regards, the titles of the photographs are the ones that shock for their explosive vulgarity: “cocksucker”, “shooting sex”, “miss X was no angel”, “Vanessa licking”, etc.
For Bob Carlos Clarke, who jumped under a train 5 years ago, some inspirations seem evident, like Fassbinder. The photograph “Courtesan”, from 1985 seems like a production of the German director.
The work featured by Brucie Collections has no other ambition than to introduce the fiendish photographer through a general choice during his entire career, since the beginning of the 80’s through the 2000’s. It is remarkable the fact that among the last pictures shown in Kiev “Yamaha blond” or “Adult females attack without provocation” they still carry the same typical aesthetic from the 80’s. A time blessed by erotic photography to which the Ukrainians had no chance to see them exposed.
