Karin Borghouts : Paris Impasse

Preview

“Paris has more than 600 ‘impasses’: streets that come to a dead end. Cul-de-sacs. And that is without counting the hundreds of cités, villas and squares. Within the Périphérique, Paris is the most densely populated city in Europe, with more than 20,000 inhabitants per square kilometre. The photographs offer a glimpse of part of Paris that usually goes unnoticed.”

Paris Impasse is a  short-film shot by photographer Karin Borghouts, echoing her eponymous photographic book. Nominated for the Luma Rencontres Dummy Book Award in 2019, held each year during the Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles, the book will be released next fall, bringing together more than 220 photographs taken from a neutral and objective point of view.
