The photographer was interested in wandering places during a trip to a Japanese island. He drew some intriguing pictures.
A bridge in the middle of a pile of trees. Nothing around. No human presence, no cars or pedestrians. A bridge in the middle of nature, invading, devouring. This photograph of Julien Mauve shows a world engulfed, as if human beings had deserted the planet overnight, as if the frightening nature had resumed its rights. These are the images that the photographer has done digitally, with a touch of editing: a wandering in a post-apocalyptic world where only parts of our civilization would remain. A bridge, a motorway junction, some electric cables … All these photographs come from a trip that Julien Mauve made on the Japanese island Akitsu Shima. The photographer was not interested in the reality of these fragments of infrastructure that he photographed, but in the dreamlike part of the picture. This is the great merit of his work, to arouse the imagination, add an extra layer to the mystery of a place.
