A Gallery for Fine Photography presents Moments of Being: a collection of twenty, 25 1/2 x 20″ hand-pulled photogravures printed on Sekishu Tsuru tissue by contemporary artist Josephine Sacabo. A devotee of alternative and historical photographic techniques, Sacabo layers multiple images to create a single ethereal image. Sacabo is an exceptional printmaker whose signature process, photogravure, heightens the mystery and otherworldly romance of her images. Moments of Being continues Sacabo’s career-long artistic exploration of the intersections between body and soul, past and present, thought and feeling. She explains in her artist statement:

Josephine Sacabo divides her time between New Orleans and Mexico—both places inform her work, resulting in imagery that is as startling and surreal as the places she calls home. Using alternative and traditional techniques, her photography has been featured in gallery and museum exhibitions in the U.S., Europe and Mexico. Sacabo has been the recipient of multiple awards and is included in the permanent collections of the George Eastman House, the International Center of Photography, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and la Bibliothéque Nationale, Paris, France.
