For the first time ever, a photographer has been invited to travel with a matador and his team, José María Manzanares and his cuadrilla, documenting their lives as if she were part of the group. The collaboration between these two artists has produced a wonderful and original story, a kind of road movie that plays out across a mysterious world of free-spirited men. Joséphine Douet shows us two sides of José María Manzanares: the bullfighter and the traveler.
Joséphine Douet lives and works in Madrid and Paris. Her work has appeared in several magazines. This first installment of a trilogy on bullfighting, Péages, is also a book with the same title published by Editions Bellaterra. An exhibition is planned at the Hôtel Jules & Jim in Paris from April 25 to June 12, 2013.
