Jonk releases his eighth book, Après l’hiver (After Winter), an illustrated post-apocalyptic novel.
The pitch: 2026, near Paris. A global conflict and the successive nuclear winter will soon cause the end of life on Earth. Caught off guard, a scientist specializing in cryogenics decides to be the first human guinea pig for his experiments and programs an awakening ten years later. When he opens his eyes, the world is not the same in many ways but above all, he is alone. He will then start on a long journey to see cities that were dear to him and try to discover Japan, the dream of his life before.
Will he get there? How will he survive? And move? But above all, is he really alone?
The photographer Jonk, with the help of Amélie Gressier in writing, takes us with him on this journey which holds many surprises…
Jonk imagined this project 5 years ago. Since then, he has taken pictures with a self-timer in abandoned places around the world.
These images illustrate 60 pages of the story of what the life of the last Man on Earth would be like.
This book is a first of its kind!
