I’m a self taught artist from Queens NY. I’ve studied painting and photography. I used to photograph professional sports but I am now focusing on creating images that aren’t the typical sports image. Big lenses and faster shutter speeds have given way to a more conceptual approach to photographing athletes.
My work studies representations of the athlete. The goal is to focus on the grace and strength of these individuals while they perform the motions specific to their sport. Being a former athlete and sports photographer helps to guide this vision, to look for specific positions that aren’t ordinarily seen or noticed, but are beautiful nonetheless. Without the ball or equipment necessary for the individuals sport the focus lies solely on the abstract motions of the athlete.
