Robert Klein Gallery and the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts presents the work of iconic motorsports photographer Jesse Alexander in Jesse Alexander: Photographs from the Golden Age of Motorsports.
Jesse Alexander began his lengthy career in 1953, covering Mexico’s La Carrera Panamericana, widely regarded as one of the most dangerous races to take place. Alexander would then relocate to Europe, where he would spend years photographing prestigious races including The 24 Hours of Le Mans, The Mille Miglia, The Targa Florio, The Isle of Man TT, and numerous long distance races and road rallies.
A prolific photographer, Alexander’s camera caught all aspects of racing culture including cars speeding down open European roads, behind-the-scene glimpses of factory mechanics in their garages, drivers in intimate moments before taking their positions, and formal compositions of the vehicles themselves.
