Divide-19 – I am destabilized by this Covid-19 story and I lose my bearings to work. In the middle of a long-term project, the world is breaking apart. This is the word I have been looking for since the start of a crisis so distant, then so close, then at home (note: my daughter works at the Pitié-Salpétrière hospital). Suddenly aware that my work is necessarily influenced by the circumstances, I decide to stop everything so as not to compromise the primary nature of my intentions.
Always agitated, in the urgency of expressing and evacuating this strange feeling, I dive into my photo library and can’t find an ounce of answer. Then, a small light appears but strangely black. Black light painting? Yes, the world is upside down. So I paint from the age of lights to the age of darkness. The Covid-19, like a mower, breaks our families, our friends, our nation, our humanity. The good news is that these finally visible fractures force us to heal the ailments that cause them. I am optimistic. From black light will flash lightning as white as happiness blinds.
