Jean-Luc Monterosso triumphed. Portfolios were still arriving yesterday morning. Here is his final selection, and his personal commentary:
I very much enjoyed selecting these portfolios. The quality was top notch. The severity of my selection can be explained by the portfolios being, for the most part, photo series and not projects. That is why I chose so few.
Next weekend’s selection will be made by Philippe Garner. Philippe is the photo director at Christie’s. He chaired some of the most prestigious sales over the past 40 years. (Jammes, Avedon and two weeks ago, Cartier-Bresson and Penn). He has an insatiable love of pictures, and is the author of 1001 texts and prefaces. We recently presented his latest book, Blow Up, an astonishing photo story about Antonioni’s movie.
