La Jaula is an ongoing project (2021) that reflects past experiences with religious fanaticism, machismo, and colonial culture in Puerto Rico. Utilizing black-and-white self-portraiture, I communicate the ravages of religious indoctrination, how one adapts to newfound liberty, and the phantom pain that remains forever.
