Jacques Revon sends us his portfolio Musiciens de Jazz en mouvements accompanied by this text.
For several years, as a volunteer photographer at the Media Music Dijon association, I have documented through still images the passage in Burgundy of groups and formations of jazz musicians.
These different groups from France, some of which are emerging, are invited in concert in the renowned La Vapeur hall, each year during a “Jazz-Club D’Jazz Kabaret” season.
Also practicing a little jazz and the saxophone for pleasure, I wanted in my images to suggest the strong presence on stage of these jazz artists and musicians, masters of their instrument and of transmitting their passion to the public.
My photographs, which have a graphic tendency, capture creative movements in their writing, images witnessing improvised contemporary music, and sometimes captivating musical moments.
My shots are thought out and then entirely constructed in the moment experienced and felt. These are in a way the results of a musical achievement and here, of an experience that I like to share and that I am pursuing.
