Spitsbergen
Spitsbergen is the main island of an archipelago, Svalbard, located north of Norway and south of the North Pole.
I took a three-week cruise there, aboard the sailboat Le Sillage, from the “capital” Longyearbyen to the northern tip of the island along the west coast.
A few days that were a bit choppy (with wind peaks at 40 knots), two or three days of full fine weather and a majority of days during which the clouds played with the wind and the sun, which gave superb lights which changed in permanence.
The sun never completely disappeared and, in the last part of the trip, we were treated to sumptuous but false sunsets/sunrises: The famous midnight sun.
