One of the most interesting exhibitions of the InCadaques PhotoFestival actually running till the 10 of October is the one of Derrick Ofosu Boateng presented by the the virtual gallery from Amsterdam : the Homecoming Gallery.
Derrick is known for his vibrant and upbeat portraits depicting everyday scenes of life in Accra. Stylized realities enriched with hues of colour from the African continent.
Each colour representative of Derrick’s intent and his wishes for the people in Ghana, Africa and beyond. A bright ambition to change perceptions and move forward together, which resulted in a big following and collaborations with icons varying from rapper Common to tech giant Google and latest Louis Vuitton.
Derrick started photographing only a few years ago, using his father’s Iphone.
A hobby next to studying business administration that ended up giving him inspiration, opportunities and a connection to the world out there.
Passing on his experience and ambition, Derrick gives workshops in Accra junior high schools, trying to put art on the educational map.
