British photographer Martin Parr, a member of Magnum Photos, now 65 years-old, will open his foundation in Bristol on October 25th. Its primary mission is the promotion and support of photography in the British Isles. It will also contribute to the preservation of the photographer’s works.
The Martin Parr Foundation was created in 2014. It will take place in the artistic and architectural complex of Paintworks. It will include a studio, a gallery, a library and an archive. It includes in its collections acquisitions made by the photographer of its siblings Irish and British. This collection also includes numbers of authors books, portfolios and essays.
Earlier this week, Martin Parr announced that he had given his entire library to the Tate Modern, with the support of the LUMA Arles Foundation.
