The exhibition ”Black in Dark” at Die Neue Sammlung at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich exhibits a serie of still lives by German photographer Hubertus Hamm. The images were originally shot in early 2010 for ZEITmagazin: black objects in a dark corner, photographed without any artificial lighting.
The content, which mainly is built of high end design objects such as the deluxe bicycle »All Black Bike« from Hublot or the »Falling Water« lamp by Tobias Grau, only become apparent to the viewer at a second glance. It is, however, not merely the darkness of the shots that hinders any interpretation of the objects photographed, but the unconventional angle also leaves much unexplained.
