Harry Fayt : Rêveries Subaquatiques

Preview

Walloon Brabant and the Musée de l’Eau et de la Fontaine present: “Rêveries subaquatiques” by photographer Harry Fayt. In the heart of nature, 28 large-format works fit into the bucolic environment of the Bois des Rêves. The opportunity for visitors to stroll through this inspiring place and discover the two photographic series “Heart made in Belgium” and “Modern Icons” by the Belgian artist. The original compositions of the photos, taken in a swimming pool, echo the water present on the site. Clear water that murmurs in the undergrowth and accompanies laughter and whispers. Water in all its forms, explored by the museum’s educational service, which raises awareness to the urgency of preserving it. Water that seems to sleep in its pond but which teems with life and invites contemplation. Precious water, championed by artist Harry Fayt.

Harry Fayt is a Belgian photographer whose work is mainly focused on aesthetic research related to the theme of water.

With “Modern Icons”, he revisits the great classics of art in the broadest sense of the term. From sculpture to cinema, many works have become essential and have dispersed their beauty and their symbolism throughout our society. These images, Harry likes to appropriate them, transform them and adapt them to our time. Sometimes changed, sometimes engaged, the works on Modern Icons encourage reflection and rereading so one can ultimately appropriate them and make one’s own interpretation.

“Heart Made in Beligum” was born from the desire to put the Belgian art scene in the spotlight. Belgium is full of talents from all walks of life, whether in terms of music, cinema or art in general. Alongside big names such as Benoit Poelvoorde, Arno and Jan Fabre, a new scene is emerging and new artists are bringing a permanent renewal to it. Harry Fayt’s assumed goal here is to indulge himself by portraying artists who meet his affinities. His challenge is to soak up their worlds and create portraits that resemble them.
