The idea to follow a group of Kickbox fighters arose because I wanted to experience Kickbox fighting on a high professional level, and get an inside view on the sport. I chose VOS Gym, Amsterdam, as it is internationally known for training professional Kickboxers/fighters. For the next month, the kick box school became my local hang out, shooting during training, the day before a fight and of course at the competition itself. It was extremely interesting to be backstage and to observe the fighters and their trainers personal rituals in preparing physically and mentally for the fight. The tension is very high and it was fascinating to capture that.
