Great Photograhers is a large book of great impact, a new Contrasto editorial project just coming out in Italy and already published abroad in English and French published by Flammarion and in Spanish by Blume.
The book presents the work of 20 masters of international photography. In this volume there are more than 300 emblematic images in a format of high- impact.
The most representative authors of the different genres of photography are put together in a virtual dialogue within the pages of this book. With this editorial product Contrasto offers a selection of international scope, ranging from reportage to documentary photography, from art to portraits, to fashion and glamor.
For each photographer an ideal portofolio of 22 pages with emblematic and legendary images. Each section opens with a presentation that introduces the master’s work; the photographs are accompanied by the words of the authors and enriched by original texts with stories,on curiosity, motivation and techniques associated with each shot. A biographical note about the phographers close each chapter. The texts are written by Laura Leonelli, Alessandra Mauro and Alessia Tagliaventi. They are written in a smart and brisk style that is informative and revealing.
The selected photographers are Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastião Salgado, Gabriele Basilico, William Klein, Man Ray, Walker Evans, Robert Doisneau, Martin Parr, August Sander, Peter Lindbergh, Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts, Margaret Bourke-White, Steve McCurry, Robert Capa, James Nachtwey, Elliott Erwitt, Helmut Newton, Mario Giacomelli and Nobuyoshi Araki.
