Ghana –Denis Dailleux

Preview

“It was through the very fine book created by Paul Strand during his time in Ghana that I myself discovered the country. It left an enormous impression on me and I told myself that someday I, too, would photograph that place” explained Denis Dailleux.

Ghana, situated on the Gulf of Guinea is a country whose past is perhaps primarily dictated by its access to the sea. Its history is one that has witnessed British colonization, the establishment of slave trade outposts as a crucial port for the enabling of the triangular trade routes. Today, Ghana is one of the few African countries that has made a successful transition into an independent democracy. It is also the landscape that Denis Dailleux has chosen to photograph, and he does so with accuracy and finesse, creating truly poetic images.
