Galerie Catherine & André Hug presents the new Parisian exhibition of the artist Olivia Fougeirol titled Plein soleil.
Bright sun. The harsh midday sunlight, that reveals the bodies of cars like sculptures, giving nature the appearance of a toxic presence. In this extra luminosity, everything seems to have tilted in a particular relief, resonating with the fictional identity of the city itself. A stroll through Los Angeles in parallel to that of Sophie-Anne Delhomme’s in her novel Sunset Paradise, in which Olivia is one of the characters…
Olivia Fougeirol is a French photographer living in Los Angeles. After a career in the performing arts, the artist has spent the last ten years as a photographer of documentary and feature films including Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher and Amy Berg’s West of Memphis and Janis: Little Girl Blue. She published in 2016 a book of photographs, DAVID, a 5 year study of a single man who lives between downtown Los Angeles and Venice Beach as well as PLATEAU in 2018, a collection of images from her work on movie sets.
