Colorful suns avenue Montaigne in Paris
Galerie Binome and the Italian fashion designer Ferragamo offer a shimmering and warm exhibition near the Champs Élysées. An invitation to see another form of photography.
An exhibition of unique photographs by the artist Mustapha Azeroual is currently being held in a very beautiful avenue Montaigne boutique, at number 45 to be exact. For about twenty years, he has explored the limits offered by capturing light with the camera, playing with old models and developing paper, to bring out colorful creations that show what remains invisible to our eyes in so many astonishing compositions. So is his latest series called “monad” which was made from photographs of camera flashes. A form of mise en abyme of the medium which ends up transforming photography towards an unprecedented pictorial pole, evoking here the canvases of Mark Rothko conducive to meditation, there the smooth flat areas of a painting by Geneviève Asse.
Vertigo
These circles with both soft and vivid pigments caught the eye of the Ferragamo store manager who had the idea to organize an exhibition open to all. One way to broaden access to this confidential place and bring new life to the west of the capital. Especially since the works of Mustapha Azeroual, as if by magic, dialogue wonderfully well with the new collection of the couturier which is a nod to the colors of Hitchcock’s films, like the apple green and pastel of Vertigo. We could not imagine a better way to escape the gloom associated with the current closure of museums and places of culture than these unexpected suns unearthed by the inventive practice of Mustapha Azeroual, in a successful marriage with the works of the Italian couturier, which question as much as they renew the photographic expression.
