fotofever paris 2014: Camera presents Coco Fronsac

Preview

Every weekend for the past 30 years, Coco Fronsac has searched flea markets for old family photos which history has placed into the hands of others. Over the years, Fronsac has put together a collection of old, mostly anonymous portraits dating from the end of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th. The reasons why the pictures were taken may be lost forever, but Fronsac has given them a second life by making them a part of her artwork. She plays with the solemn postures typical of the subjects in photographs taken to mark important life events like births, communion and marriage, reflecting the social conventions of the time.
