The title of the exhibition Jusqu’ici tout va bien…#2 (Everything’s alright until now) is taken from Mathieu Kassovitz’s film La Haine (Hate).
In this series, Florent Mattei creates a sort of chronic of ordinary hatred, staging scenes while leaving a place for improvisation. However the gun is real, as are the policemen, the Free Fight followers and the youngsters wearing skaters balaclavas.
As stated by Julien Camy “These photographs smell of asphalt, deserted factories, of suffering and revolt.”
Florent Mattei was born in 1970 in Longjumeau, having obtained a degree at the Université de Paris 8, he is also a graduate of the Villa Arson (Ecole nationale supérieure d’art plastique). He lives currently lives in Nice, and is a photographer for the magazine “de l’Air.”
