Luttes is a journey through the photography series created in the last few years by Tina Merandon capturing the body in movement. Tina explores the primary physical energies of the human body that connect us most closely to our animal origins. The athletes and young girls she photographs in these series are all from the Paris suburbs. Wrestling bodies entangled in a chokeslam, gloved boxers sweating after a match or slender girls defying gravity by leaping into the air are caught in choreographical compositions of great power and elegance. The nuanced light and dark skin colors enhanced by being often printed on leather or wood add to the tactile sensuality of the images.
