Odon Wagner Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of contemporary artist, Costas Picadas. This exhibition features 17 photographs taken from five series, Voids, Hyperbola, Aether, Tachyon & Quark Tunnelling. In each work, the Greek born photographer explores science, philosophy, light and energy.
Working primarily in black and white, Picadas creates highly stylized and even abstracted compositions using both natural and urban spaces as his subject matter. His ethereal photographs capture a dynamic world as different elements of his landscape are highlighted or subdued.
The spirituality and depth visible in Picadas’ ordered and serene compositions speak to his study of philospohy and religion, from Plato to Descartes to the Kabbalah. Besides these academic influences, Picadas admires the orignal expression of Cy Twombly and Yayoi Kusama.
