Paris… so much beauty.
The desire to photograph it has always existed.
I have often thought about it but I did not have a common thread. What story to tell?
The idea had passed.
And then on March 17, 2020, the day of my birthday, France confines itself and Paris becomes silent.
A new story.
A call to creativity and the duty to remember. I like the emptiness, the space and the silence that emerges from this confinement. And then there is this light, this radiant sun that awakens the beauty of our capital.
I thought I knew this city but in reality I rediscover it with every moment. The feeling is quite disturbing. I feel somewhat like a survivor, an actor from another dimension. Everything is calm, clean and silent. I ride a scooter and the joy of wandering around this dehumanized Paris is sometimes heavy yet incredible.
I photograph each neighborhood and what seems to me to be the most symbolic: streets, deserted avenues, stations, shops, cafes … all those places which are normally bustling are now transformed into artificial scenery.
You had to testify. This book remains.
