The Abbey of Valmagne presents Nature Divinity: Photographs by Francis Grosjean from June 19 to September 22, 2019.
“The visual dimension of Francis Grosjean’s photographs is part of Western societies’ awareness of the need to better reconnect man with nature… What better way to make us reach this goal than inviting us to observation and imagination, to reweave a sacred link with our planet by the beauty, that of a found nature… ” Philippe SÉRÉNON – Curator of the exhibition
Nature Divinity
After Arles 2018, the Abbey of Valmagne hosts during all summer the exhibition NATURE DIVINITY Francis GROSJEAN.
This photographer draws on the riches of a fragile and ephemeral nature to create divine portraits and a magical bestiary carved by the five elements of Yin and Yang: earth, water, fire, wood and metal. Each photo is accompanied by a haiku of the poet Marion GINESTE.
Under the vaults of the deceptively quiet abbey, these strange deities come to life in a very large format. They bring back the fascinating and sometimes brutal history of this sacred place and question the man about his relationship to nature.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on June 19 at 18:30 by a musical dialogue between these deities of nature and the singer-noisemaker KHALID’K and the participation of the group ŒNOJAZZ.
Francis Grosjean
A multi-award-winning French photographer and filmmaker, Francis GROSJEAN explores the creative nature by looking at all the anthropomorphic and fractal figures that are hidden there.
