In 2024, the Photo Club Nantais celebrates its centenary with a number of events that will punctuate the year and raise public awareness of the practice of photography.
The anniversary will be sponsored by the famous photographer Jean-Christophe Béchet, who will present some fifteen photos in his “Macadam Color Street Photo” exhibition, along with a major exhibition on Nantes proposed by the Club Photo Nantais, “Nantes as you’ve rarely seen it”. Nantes ville verte, Nantes ville d’eau, Nantes ville de quartier, Nantes ville de création, Nantes ville en mouvement, Nantes ville d’imagination, but also Nantes ville d’Histoire, de combats, de dérives…
There’s no shortage of words to describe Nantes. The LU Tower, the Château des Ducs, the Tour de Bretagne and the Titan Crane are all familiar images of Nantes, but have we ever looked at it differently?
By its reflections, by its inhabitants, by the emotions it evokes? By what intimately links us to it, by our own sensitivity, our own history. It’s these other facets, these fleeting moments, these magical moments that photographers have the privilege of capturing that will be presented at Cale 2 créateurs from May 29 to June 23.
Whether it’s a smile, a breathtaking landscape, a lively street scene or a captivating detail, each image on display tells a unique and precious story, another story of Nantes.
An exhibition of some fifty photos chosen throughout the year under the curatorship of Jean Gorvan, with the guiding principle of showing the city in a different light.
