To coincide with the Besançon Photography Festival, Grain d’Pixel is launching its call for entries for the Victor Hugo Award for committed photography and the Grain d’Pixel Prize.
Each year, around fifty amateur, student and professional photographers are selected and given carte blanche to present their work. Each photographer submits one photograph from his or her exhibition to the Grain d’Pixel Prize, and the winner receives €800.
The Victor Hugo Prize for committed photography, offered by Grain d’Pixel and Victor Hugo’s birthplace, is open to professional photographers. The prize is €1,000 and will be exhibited in the house where Victor Hugo was born, focusing on one of his favourite themes:
- Defending human rights
- Defending freedom of expression
- Defence of children’s rights
- Defence of women’s rights
- Fight against the death penalty
- Fighting poverty
- Fighting oppression
The exhibition consists of 15 to 20 photographs printed on dibond by the organisers and presented as part of the Besançon Photography Festival in Victor Hugo’s birthplace for its autumn – winter 2024/2025 season.
Applications for the Besançon Photography Festival, the Grain d’Pixel Prize and the Victor Hugo Prize are open from April 1 to 15 May 2024 on the website: Besançon 2024 Photography Festival
