Over CHF 50,000 in creation-support grants: Images Vevey’s international photography competition return! Professional artists and photographers, as well as those in training, have until February 28 to enter the competition for the 12th Grand Prix Images Vevey or the 3rd Images Vevey Book Award 2019/2020.
Grand Prix Images Vevey
Grand Prix Images Vevey is a creation-support grant for photography projects. The award, worth some CHF 40,000 (approx. EUR 35,000), enables one artist to develop a new photography project over a year that will be presented at the next Festival Images 2020. The competition represents unique support for contemporary creation, with complete freedom of choice over subject and genre.
In 2017/2018, the Grand Prix Images Vevey was awarded to Peter Puklus (Hungary) for The Hero Mother. How to Build a House, a project questioning the dynamics of male and female roles in society: motherhood as an alleged heroic activity and the father’s inclination to build and protect the home.
Images Vevey Book Award
Images Vevey Book Award is a grant worth CHF 10,000 (approx. EUR 9,000) that supports the creation of a book project which showcases an optimal and original balance between publication format and photographic content. It provides a financial contribution that aims to encourage artists to take risks and to innovate, in order for them to develop a suitable sophisticated publication format for their photography project.
In 2017/2018, the Images Vevey Book Award was awarded to Jono Rotman (New Zealand) for the publication of “Mongrelism” (editions Here Press/Images Vevey). The Images Vevey Book Award is a separate entry and a separate regulation.
A jury made up of picture professionals will meet at the end of May 2019 to select the prize-winners. The winning projects will be produced during the year and will be presented at the next Festival Images Vevey from 5 to 27 September 2020.

AN EXCEPTIONAL JURY FOR GRAND PRIX IMAGES VEVEY 2019/2020
Images Vevey is pleased to reveal the names of the experts who will award its two major photographic creation support grants.
Artist Dayanita Singh will preside over the Jury of the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2019/2020, featuring:

Christoph Wiesner, Artistic Director, Paris Photo, Paris
and Francesco Zanot, Independent Curator, Milan
This jury of image professionals will gather in Vevey from 3 to 5 May 2019 to examine the projects of the candidates shortlisted after their online application as part of the Grand Prix Images Vevey and the Images Vevey Book Award.
