Fan Ho, a legendary figure in the world of photography, is celebrated for his remarkable black and white images that capture the essence of mid-20th century Hong Kong. His masterful use of light and shadow, combined with a keen eye for composition, creates a mesmerizing narrative within each frame. Fan Ho captures the essence of a bygone era, inviting you to explore the rich heritage and intimate moments that shaped the city’s history. Widely recognized internationally, Fan Ho is an influential figure in the art of photography.
Complementing Fan Ho’s iconic imagery, Romain Jacquet-Lagrèze’s contemporary photographs offer a fresh and vibrant perspective on Hong Kong’s present-day urban landscape. His colorful compositions bring to life the soaring skyscrapers, bustling streets, and the energy of the city’s inhabitants. Witness the pulse of a modern metropolis that embraces both tradition and innovation. The focus of Romain JL will be from his two latest photobook publications, both released in 2022 ‘Concrete Stories’ and ’36 Views of Lion Rock along so far unpublished work from the series ‘City Poetry’
Blue Lotus Gallery takes pride in being the conduit for this artistic dialogue. By showcasing Fan Ho’s and Romain Jacquet-Lagreze’s works side by side, we aim to engage viewers in a thought- provoking exploration of Hong Kong’s evolution as a city, its rich heritage, and its vibrant spirit.
