An auction organized by the Lumière des roses gallery and the Yann Le Mouël auction house, as part of the 50th anniversary of the 2019 Rencontres photographiques d’Arles
For the seventh consecutive year, in association with the auction house of Yann Le Mouël, the Lumière des roses gallery offers a photography auction in which a number of anonymous vintages rub shoulders with the big names in photography.
This year has the particularity that it is placed under the sign of solidarity. On the initiative of Sam Stourdzé, Director of Rencontres d’Arles, the first 18 lots of our sale will be an opportunity to raise funds for photographer Olivier Cablat, 40, who is currently in a critical state of health after a stroke that leaves him with the locked-in syndrome. Olivier has exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2015, “Duck, a theory of evolution”, a tribute to the work of Ventury and Scott Brown. From 2015 to 2018, he was, with Sebastian Hau, the artistic director of the Cosmos Arles Book, a platform dedicated to experimental editorial practices. With great generosity, Olivier has always been devoted to photography, sharing, loving encounters. Several renowned photographers generously donated one or two prints in support of their colleague. By purchasing these exceptional prints, you will extend this solidarity chain. All proceeds from the sale of these first 18 lots will be donated to Olivier, his partner and two little girls of 2 and 8 years, to accompany them in this difficult event.
